名詞節として正しくないのでダメだと思います。

the newspaper reported(修飾語)は
the story(被修飾語)を修飾してます。

修飾語の位置は
修飾語が1単語のときは被修飾語の前に
修飾語が2単語以上の場合は被修飾語の後に
確かおかなきゃだと思います。

yesterday も the newspaper もなしに
reported story だけならdifferent from 〜
の後にきても大丈夫だと思いますが…

第一、the newspaper reported の後に
また the が入るのも違和感ありますね(笑)

前から思ってたんですが、
newspaper

は何故関係代名詞は成立しないんですか？
なんとなく違和感は感じるのですが。

reported story に主語が抜けた状態、としても関係代名詞は成立するのでは？

勿論、story ＜newspaper reported＞
のほうが、しっくりくるのですが。

とかは関係詞の後に主語(I)あるし、足りないのは目的語、
よって関係代名詞は目的格だから省略可。

(which)は
(that)じゃなくて(which)でもOKって、意味です。

目的格だけって、SVOCのOしか修飾できないってことですか？
名詞なら主語でも目的語でも修飾できるじゃないですか。
簡単に書いたら、

さっきの例文なら、
